Orkney Meet 2021 SEE ADDED NOTE
Thursday 13th - Friday 21st May 2021
As it is impractical to run any rallies in mainland Europe in 2021, we are trying to offer alternatives in the UK. Meets are easier to run within the covid environment as there are no formal group meals or activities. So we can operate within the guidance and keep everyone safe. Hence we are starting with a series of meets in Scotland. This is just the first to be announced and others will follow. The dates have been arranged so that members can choose any or all of the events. Also note that, unlike rallies, it is fine to attend all or just part of a meet though of course the organisers will want to know your intentions.
We will arrive for the Orkney Meet on Thursday 13th and leave on Friday 21st May 2021 using the Point of Ness campsite. Orkney offers much of interest from prehistoric sites, WW2 relics, coastal stack, museums, small islands and opportunities to walk or cycle. You are welcome to join us for all or part of our time there. As described above, as it is a meet, there will be no formal programme, deposit or rally fund, or set meals but we still intend to have fun in a covid secure manner.
If you would like to join us please use the Apply button below. Also email us with dates you expect to be there.
You will need to book your own site pitch. To do this go on line at orkney.campmanager.com
Or telephone 01856873535 ext. 2901
At a later stage you can book your ferries at northlinkferries.co.uk or phone 08456000449.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Thank you for expressing your interest in the above Event and for booking your site.
However, due to the uncertainty associated with the COVID restrictions in Scotland and the role out of the vaccine, I regret to advise you that it has been decided to cancel this as an official ICA Meet.
We understand, at this stage, that the First Minister for Scotland may lift some restrictions to allow travel to commence in Scotland on 26th April but we can’t be certain how remaining restrictions will impact on the success of the Event.
Some of you may still wish to make the trip should restrictions be lifted and want to know who else is of the same mind. So could you please inform Sandy and Jo whether you intend, as individuals, to go ahead or not. They will amend the list of participants on the website. You all have access to this information through your profile page.
Should you wish to to cancel the campsite on Orkney this can be done on line. Refunds are easy and quick to obtain with a small admin charge, provided this is requested 30 days before arrival.
The good news is that an amended version of the Scottish Odyssey is being offered next year when we hope things are more settled. Details will soon appear on the website and in the magazine but outline dates are as follows:
Melrose 4th to 10th May 2022
Trossachs 10th to 17th May 2022
Morvich 17th to 24th May 2022
Organisers : Sandy & Jo Sanderson
